Do you know what a ripe bunch of shiraz grapes looks like? Although wine is the most imbibed beverage in the world (after tea), most have never experienced the flavour of a full bodied Heathcote shiraz, made using traditional open vats and minimal intervention from the winemaker.
It is our goal to open the road to this rich experience. Shiraz Republic ‘s own wine is full bodied, low intervention wine because it’s simply better tasting and much more diverse in its range of subtle flavours than the over finessed, over watered wine you will find in most large scale commercial wines. And enjoying it is as easy as opening the bottle.
But we are also committed to supporting wine-lovers to make their own wine and to be as involved in the process as they wish. Sometimes this is simply supplying quality fruit delivered to their door, ready for their home winemaking. For some it means being able to come to the vineyard with the family and pick the grapes themselves. For others we supply wine just pressed from its first ferment in barrels or demijohns, ready to be nursed through to completion. And if you don’t have a backyard or garage to make wine in you can do it at the Shiraz Republic’s Rent-A-Row winemaking experience. We have all the equipment you need and the expertise to support from vine to bottle so you can experience the fun of the vineyard, without the hard work.
The following email from a customer who received fruit for the first time says it all:
The grapes you sent were fantastic.
When they arrived, my next door neighbour who has been making wine for the last thirty years, came out to have a look, and he said they were the cleanest, freshest, grapes he had ever seen. He grabbed a couple of bunches and started raving about how they were all so sweet. He was totally impressed.
When we crushed them that afternoon, they were 13.5 Baume and a pH of 3.4 so I didn’t have to add acid, or sugar.
They were just perfect.
You can’t make wine, that’s better than the grapes you use.
The only downside to this is, that if the wine turns out less than perfect, we have no-one to blame but ourselves!
Thank you again for your wonderful service.
We deliver a wide range of orders to an increasingly diverse area. The largest order this year was 3.3 tonnes and the smallest 3 kg! Although this last order was later increased to 20kg.
As for our own Shiraz, pick the grapes at their peak of flavour and sweetness from low yielding vines growing in the ancient red soils of Heathcote. Fermented in open vast, hand-plunged and matured in oak to craft wines that are full-bodied and fruit forward. The wines are full-bodied and full flavoured. With our passion for wine, we work directly with the vines to produce the finest grapes in the world. Our grapes are freshly harvested, grown with minimal use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides, using sustainable interdependent farming methods.
When we set out to form our small Republic, our not so covert mission was to create a Shiraz Revolution. Our purpose is to enrich people’s lives through the experience of fine wine and a life of health, balance and well-being. From the beginning, wine has been a drink that is shared with others. Around the world wine taken is shared with friends and family in rituals of hospitality and nourishment for both body and soul.
Shiraz Republic is dedicated to helping you find many ways to get to know wine anew, through a range of involvements that will educate, inspire and communicate the quality, benefits, values and lifestyle that is Shiraz Republic.
