A small regional brewery on a working vineyard in the Heathcote wine region. We’ve been brewing good beer in Cornella since 2016 — side by side with Shiraz Republic, on the same patch of central Victorian dirt.
Cornella Brewery started in 2016 as the beer-making arm of a vineyard — a good idea that stuck. We share a site, a water supply and a way of doing things with Shiraz Republic, but the beer stands on its own: a permanent core range, a heritage-leaning Old Town range, and a rotating cast of limited releases that let us have fun and experiment with new ideas, ingredients and techniques.
Initially we focused on traditional English-style beers, brewing under the name ‘Cornella Real’ — a nod to Britain’s real ale movement. In time we shortened it to just ‘Cornella,’ as the range grew beyond the English styles we love to take in more modern trends.
We were early adopters of the haze craze — our Annie NEIPA first launched as a limited bottled release in 2017, the first Central Victorian NEIPA on the market. It earned its way to a permanent spot in 2022, and these days our rotating roster runs to plenty more hazy beers alongside other IPAs, sours, lagers and our beloved English styles.
We’re independent and regionally owned, and we like it that way. The brewery runs lean — a small team, a tight setup, and decades of combined know-how behind it. What we make is flavour-forward and easy to get on with; what we don’t do is fuss about beer for the sake of it.
Come and drink it where it’s made. Our cellar door pours the full range plus whatever limited release is on tap that week, alongside the vineyard next door. It’s an easy run from Bendigo or Heathcote, and a good excuse for a drive into the country. Otherwise browse the range below and shop online.
